    Don ca Tai tu had been recognized Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
    National Times- A ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate in recognition of the Don Ca Tai Tu Nam Bo as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity took place on February 11 in HCMC, held by the coordination between Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) and HCMC People's Committee.

    This is a significant event for the Vietnamese, marking the first time the South River area possesses a unique heritage recognized by UNESCO.

    Katherine Muller Marin, Chief Representative of the UNESCO Office in Hanoi presented the certificate of recognition of the UNESCO to Minister of MOCST Hoang Tuan Anh and representatives of  21 provinces owning Don ca tai tu Art.

    She appreciated the value of Don ca tai tu Art and expressed his desire that Vietnam will preserve and promote the heritage values to the world.

    Also at the ceremony, Minister Hoang Tuan Anh announced the national action program to preserve and promote the cultural heritage value of Don ca tai tu, including promote education, advocacy and raising knowledge about the value of heritage for the community; creating favorable conditions for the heritage’ practice; boost research and application of science and technology in the preservation, promotion as well as create conditions for spreading this kind of art to other countries; hold Don ca tai tu Art Festival nationwide once in three years…

    Earlier, other genres of traditional Vietnamese music, including “nha nhac Hue” (Vietnamese Royal court music in Central Thua Thien-Hue province), “quan ho” (Bac Ninh Folk Songs in northern Bac Ninh) and “ca tru” (northern ceremonial singing), had also been recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural world heritages.
